OSHA One-Day Training Courses
Permit-Required Confined Space - 1 Day Course
This one-day course discusses the requirements of OSHA’s permit-required confined space standard, 29 CFR 1910.146. It is designed for small employers or a designated representative (line supervisor or manager) with the responsibility to develop a permit space program. It covers OSHA’s requirements but does not feature hands-on sections (instrumentation and control methods and testing). Topics will include Scope and Definitions, General Requirements, Permit Space Program, Training Requirements, Employee Roles and Rescue.
Scaffolding Safety Fundamentals - 1 Day Course
This one-day course discusses the requirement about OSHA compliance and abatement standards for different types of scaffolding, design criteria and load analysis. We will review the competent person(s) role in scaffolding.
Managing Excavation Hazards - 1 Day Course
In this course, students will learn about the role and responsibility of the employer to assign a competent person to the excavation site and arm that person with the knowledge to perform the work properly. Topics include the understanding and application of definitions relating to OSHA’s Excavation Standard (Subpart P), excavation hazards and control measures, soil analysis techniques, protective system requirements and emergency response. At the conclusion of this course, the participant will understand the importance and duties of a competent person towards excavation work and will have the knowledge and skills that are required to perform those duties.
Lockout/Tagout - 1 Day Course
This course will provide students with information about the importance of the lockout / tagout program, terms and definitions, roles and responsibilities, how to recognize applicable hazardous energy sources, type and magnitude of the energy available in the workplace, methods and means necessary for energy isolation and control, and specific lockout/tagout procedures for electrical/mechanical and equipment/machinery.
Electrical Safety - 1 Day Course
This course will provide students with a survey of OSHA's electrical standards and the hazards associated with electrical installations and equipment. Topics include single- and three-phase systems, cord- and plug-connected and fixed equipment, grounding, ground fault circuit interrupters, hazardous locations, and safety-related work practices. Emphasis is placed on electrical hazard recognition and OSHA inspection procedures. Hands-on training is provided using various types of electrical testing equipment.
NFPA 70 E / Arc Flash - 1/2 Day Course
Students will learn about the mechanics of an arc, the physical effects of an arc flash and blast on exposed personnel, what determines the size of an arc, types of personal protective equipment (PPE), and how to choose appropriate PPE for the job.
Bloodborne Pathogens - 1/2 Day Course
This course will provide students with information on describing the general requirements of the Bloodborne Pathogens Standard; identify the key provisions of a written exposure control plan and develop a written exposure control plan.
Fall Hazard Awareness - 1 Day Course
This one day course provides information on identifying, evaluating and preventing exposures to fall hazards at construction sites. The goal of the course is provide small business owners, trainers, foremen and employees with information on recognizing potential fall hazards at their work sites and suggest ways to avoid, minimize, control and prevent these hazards whenever possible. The course focuses on falls to a lower level rather than falls resulting from slips and trips. Topics include identifying fall hazards, analyzing fall hazards, and preventing fall hazards, as well as OSHA resources that address fall hazards.
Introduction to Safety & Health Management - 1 Day Course
This one-day course will explore the main elements of an effective safety and health management system along with the central issues that are critical to each element's proper management. The target audience for this course is the small employer, business owner, or manager designated with the responsibility to develop and manage a firm's safety and health programs or systems. The training is also suitable for employees and employee representatives interested in improving safety and health in the workplace.
Introduction to Machinery and Machine Safeguarding - 1 Day Course
The main focus of this course is to increase the participant's knowledge and skill in proper machine safeguarding techniques, and to highlight the benefits of guarding various types of machinery. It is the employer's responsibility to identify and select the safeguard necessary to protect employees and others in the work area, as well as provide appropriate training in safe work practices. Knowing when and how to properly safeguard machinery can reduce or eliminate the potential for accidents and injuries.
Health Hazard Awareness - 1 Day Course
This course provides an introduction to common health hazards that are encountered in the workplace. These health hazards will include exposure to chemicals, asbestos, silica and lead. The course will feature these topics: identification of hazard; sources of exposure; health hazard information; evaluation of exposure; and engineering and work practice controls. The course will include workshops and group activities; and PowerPoint presentations. The course is designed as an awareness course for employers and employees.
Public Warehousing and Storage - 1 Day Course
The course is designed as a training course for warehouse workers and will focus on many hazards and injuries that are likely to be encountered in warehouse operations. It has been shown that warehousing has become an increasingly hazardous area to work in. OSHA has identified Public Storage and Warehousing as one of seven industries with a high lost time claims rate. Injuries may occur from forklifts; material handling and lifting; exposure to hazardous substances; and slips, trips and falls. The course will discuss: powered industrial trucks; material handling/lifting/ergonomics; hazard communication; walking and working surfaces; and exit routes and fire protection.
Introduction to Accident Investigation - 1 Day Course
Introduction to accident investigation provides an introduction to basic accident investigation procedures and describes accident analysis techniques. The goal of the course is to help participants gain the basic skills necessary to conduct an effective accident investigation at their workplace. The target audience is the small employer, manager, employee or employee representative who, as part of a firm's safety and health system, would be involved in conducting accident and/or near-miss investigations.
Recordkeeping Rule Seminar - 1 Day Course
This course is designed to provide students with an overview of the new recordkeeping requirements which became effective January, 2002. Topics include an overview of the new OSHA 300 form, what type of accidents need to be recorded, and the proper way to record these accidents. Through exercises and examples, students will successfully complete the required OSHA recordkeeping forms and have an understanding of the OSHA requirements on recordkeeping.
Supervisor Safety Course - 1 Day Course
This course will provide supervisors and managers with the necessary skills to facilitate the day-to-day activities involving employee safety performance. This course stresses supervisory behavior needed in managing a departmental safety effort.
